According to the NCSC’s Connected Places: Cyber Security Principles, understanding the threats to your connected place is the first and one of the most essential steps to becoming cyber secure. Part 1 of the guidance provides an analysis of the current state of cyber security in the smart streets industry. It examines recent cyber-attacks on connected places and highlights some of the common cyber security challenges authorities face. It also introduces a case study based on recent, real cyber-attacks on smart streets and other smart cities and transport systems. The purpose of this is to highlight why cyber security needs to be a greater priority for authorities.
